By land area, Census TIGER 2025 boundaries put about 47 percent of the city in Fridley Public Schools (ISD 14), 24 percent in Columbia Heights (ISD 13), 21 percent in Spring Lake Park (ISD 16) and 8 percent in Anoka-Hennepin (ISD 11). South Fridley is Columbia Heights territory — the district says so itself — and it runs North Park School for Innovation at 5575 Fillmore Street NE, inside Fridley, 433 students in 2024-25. The northeast, around Osborne Road, is Spring Lake Park, which runs Woodcrest Elementary Spanish Immersion at 880 Osborne Road NE, 558 students. The northwest corner along the river, up by Springbrook Nature Center, is Anoka-Hennepin, which has no building inside Fridley. The middle of the city is ISD 14: Hayes Elementary at 615 Mississippi Street NE, Stevenson Elementary at 6080 East River Road, and Fridley Middle and Fridley High on West Moore Lake Drive, 2,712 students district-wide. Enrollment is NCES Common Core of Data for 2024-25. Confirm the address with the district before you write an offer.

No. Northstar commuter rail ran its last trains on January 4, 2026, and buses replaced it on January 5. Fridley's station is closed. Metro Transit's Route 827 is the bus that serves the city, running East River Road through Fridley and Marshall Street into northeast Minneapolis and downtown; Route 888 covers Ramsey, Anoka and Coon Rapids, and Route 882 covers Big Lake and Elk River. Anoka County's own website still describes Northstar in the present tense — its Train page, checked in July 2026, still calls it the only rail service with stops in the county — and several north-metro city sites do the same. It does not run. Transit was never how most of Fridley got to work anyway: in the 2020-2024 ACS, 318 of the city's 14,952 workers commuted by public transportation, 10,496 drove alone and 2,327 worked from home.

Age and mix. The median Fridley home was built in 1968; the median Anoka County home was built in 1986 and the median metro home in 1981 (2020-2024 ACS). Of the city's 12,746 housing units, 9,046 went up between 1950 and 1979, and only 296 date to 2020 or later. The mix is less single-family than the county as a whole: 6,964 detached houses, 805 attached townhomes, 1,656 units in buildings of 50 or more, and 286 manufactured homes, which finance differently than a stick-built house on owned land. Median owner-estimated value was $302,900 against $346,500 countywide and $374,000 metro-wide over the same period. That gap is the entry point buyers come here for, and it is also a maintenance budget on a sixty-year-old house. Get the sewer line, the panel and the roof looked at.

Road work, mostly. Anoka County has Mississippi Street (County Highway 6) torn up between East River Road and Highway 47, rebuilding it with two through lanes, turn lanes and sidewalk and replacing the concrete pavement under the railroad bridge. Construction runs May through August 2026 and the county expects the segment closed until mid-August; its weekly update for the week of July 24, 2026 had the contractor installing sidewalk and drainage swale on the north side. The county also scheduled reconstruction of the Rice Creek West Regional Trail through Locke Park, from the Highway 65 tunnel to Locke Parkway, to start in late July and finish in fall 2026, and it is re-siding, re-roofing and repairing the foundation of the Banfill-Locke house at Manomin Park, work anticipated complete by the end of 2026 (Anoka County Parks, April 8, 2026). The city's park rebuild is done: Commons Park at 555 61st Avenue NE reopened to the public in June 2026 with a recreation building, splash pad, playground and pickleball, volleyball and basketball courts, and the grand opening ran Saturday, July 18 during '49er Days. Craig Park was finished in 2023, Moore Lake Park in 2024 and Logan Park in fall 2024. A 57th Avenue bridge over the BNSF Northtown Yard, connecting Main Street to East River Road, is in design, but the city says its bidding and construction schedule depends on funding. Housing is a different story: only 296 of Fridley's 12,746 units date to 2020 or later (2020-2024 ACS), so this is a resale market, not a new-construction one.
